With one month to go, Fair-goers bringing towed caravans to this year’s Appleby Horse Fair are being reminded of the need to carefully plan their journeys and not arrive too soon.
Local residents attended a member’s drop-in event at Appleby Library on Saturday 9 March to discuss how the Multi-Agency Strategic Co-coordinating Group (MASCG) can improve its response to the annual Horse Fair, held in the town.
A meeting to discuss plans for the response to this year’s Appleby Horse Fair will be held at the Public Hall in the town on Wednesday 15 May from 7pm.
As the annual Appleby Fair approaches, public drop-in sessions are being held by Cumbria Police, South Lakeland District Council and Cumbria County Council.
A Gypsy and Traveller ‘Cultural Evening’ is to be held in Kirkby Stephen later this month aimed at helping to build links and better understanding between traveller and settled communities.
Eden District Council has appointed Councillor Karen Greenwood (Independent Group/Appleby Ward) as its Member representative for the Multi Agency Strategic Co-ordinating Group (MASCG) for Appleby Horse Fair, for the remainder of the municipal year.
